Capturing moments both posed and unscripted is what I love. Since shooting my first wedding in 2006,  I  never get tired of the spontaneous energy that comes from capturing people or events in a memorable fashion.  I believe in not pushing but letting the moment come as naturally as possible. It helps that I got into photography as a new bride, so I understand the highs and lows of wedding planning from both the bride’s point of view and the vendor’s point of view.

Most of all I believe in connecting with my clients.  The most important thing is finding the true essence of the moment and that is really achieved by that connection and trust.

I was born in South Africa, moving to Chicago in my mid-teens but never forgetting my roots.  The name for Magnifica Photography was inspired by an award-winning blend of the same name produced by Belfield, a boutique vineyard run by my uncle Michael Kreft in the Elgin area of the Cape in South Africa. The blend is named after the queen protea, which is related to the national flower of South Africa.
